Scheduling a visit

Welcome to the James San Jacinto Mountains/Oasis de los Osos Reserves and thank you for choosing us to conduct your research!

As part of the University of California Natural Reserve System the James San Jacinto Mountains and Oasis de los Osos Reserves mission is “to contribute to the understanding and wise stewardship of the Earth and its natural systems by supporting university-level teaching, research, and public service at protected natural areas throughout California”.

The use of the James Reserve for special events such as workshops, training, and meetings will be permitted only if the purpose is related to the mission of the UC Natural Reserve System.

In order to start your project you need to register first with our Reserve Application Management System (RAMS) by clicking here and submit an application. If you already did it, Congratulations! Your application to do your research at the James and/or Los Osos has been approved and you’re ready to head to the field. Even though you might have listed possible dates of when you would do your field work at the Reserves, things change and your actual visits to the Reserves need to be registered so we know you are coming and can prepare for your visit. Thus keep in mind every visit you plan on making to either the James or Los Osos has to be reserved in advance through the RAMS system. Fortunately, you can reserve multiple visits at the same time. Making a reservation is easy and you will receive a email confirmation once your reservation has been approved.  To assure that the dates you want to visit are open, please view our calendar.

Contact us if you have problems making a reservation.
