Art and Science day at the James

On June 25, 2016, the staff from the James joined with the Idyllwild Art Alliance, graduate students from UCLA, and local artists to conduct an art and science workshop for middle and high school students. The idea behind the workshop was to introduce these young people to both science and art and the close philosophical connection they share. There were 10 eager participates who first listened to the scientists talk about lizards, plants, and small critters that live in the water. After this, they then joint artists that specialized in photography, mixed media art, and plein air art to use these media to capture their visions of nature. The day was a resounding success and both instructors and students left with rewarding experiences from the day. Below are just a few photos to help you envision the excitement of the day.
