Welcome to the James San Jacinto Mountains/Oasis de los Osos Reserves and thank you for choosing us to conduct your research!
As part of the University of California Natural Reserve System the James San Jacinto Mountains and Oasis de los Osos Reserves mission is “to contribute to the understanding and wise stewardship of the Earth and its natural systems by supporting university-level teaching, research, and public service at protected natural areas throughout California”.
The use of the James Reserve for special events such as workshops, training, and meetings will be permitted only if the purpose is related to the mission of the UC Natural Reserve System.
In order to start your project you need to register first with our Reserve Application Management System (RAMS) by clicking here and submit an application. If you already did it, Congratulations! Your application to do your research at the James and/or Los Osos has been approved and you’re ready to head to the field. Even though you might have listed possible dates of when you would do your field work at the Reserves, things change and your actual visits to the Reserves need to be registered so we know you are coming and can prepare for your visit. Thus keep in mind every visit you plan on making to either the James or Los Osos has to be reserved in advance through the RAMS system. Fortunately, you can reserve multiple visits at the same time. Making a reservation is easy and you will receive a email confirmation once your reservation has been approved. To assure that the dates you want to visit are open, please view our calendar.
Contact the Reserve Assistant Director, Andrea Campanella by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you have problems making a reservation.
Overnight accommodations at Trailfinders Lodge include semi-private dormitory rooms, communal bathrooms with showers, kitchen with cooking supplies, desks, small museum with herbarium and collections, wireless Internet access within all our buildings and many outdoor areas, and access to Reserve databases. The following are the current fees applicable to reservations for staying at the James or day use of either site.
A $50 fee per day will be charged for no-shows or cancellations within 24 hours of expected arrival.
A $50 cleaning fee will be applied to all overnight stays. This fee will be removed from the invoice if the users will leave the place clean to hotel standards. To meet these standards please refer to the Reserve Use Guidelines on our website or the cleaning checklist inside the buildings.
